Letter from the secretary general

Dear Delegates, Advisors, and Parents,

Welcome to Yale Model United Nations South Asia! My name is Lishore Kumar, and it is with incredible honor that I serve as the President and Secretary-General for YMUNSA II, taking place in Bengaluru, India from November 27–29, 2026.

Over the years, YMUNSA has taken many forms. Since our founding in 2014, we’ve had conference partnerships with different organizations and even held a virtual format in last year’s iteration. This year, however, our team is looking to take our conference to new heights, with a mission of showcasing the beauty in discourse.

With some of the most complex issues of our generation arising in the past year alone, it is our belief that to truly tackle these problems, we must create an environment where even seemingly contentious issues can be discussed, debated, and, above all else, acted upon. To this end, we are proud to announce that this year’s iteration of YMUNSA will be entirely independently run and carry the theme: To make change, be the change.

This year’s conference will have delegates descend upon Bangalore, India for three days of rich debate, with committees ranging from restrictions on lethal autonomous weapons to regional topics like tackling record-level water pollution in South Asia, and even specialized committees exploring how Bollywood can expand to the West. In addition, the outside-committee experience will be just as fulfilling, with a career fair featuring companies from across the region representing a variety of industries and applications of the work you perform in committee. All of this comes alongside comprehensive topic guides, delegate training materials, admissions panels, speaker events, and in-conference workshops prepared by our Secretariat. Finally, we will be selecting a small cohort of students local to the region to help us build this conference from a shared vision, providing an avenue for further agency in driving change.

We are humbled by your interest in YMUNSA, and we look forward to meeting—and making change with—all of you.

To change,

Lishore Kumar
