CONFERENCE POLICIES

ENGLISH POLICY

Due to the diverse composition of our delegates and members of the Secretariat, English is the only language that will be allowed in committee. If a delegate is heard communicating in any other language but English, the delegate will receive one warning from the director. Should they fail to adhere to this policy will lead to disqualification from awards.

ELECTRONICS POLICY

YMUN South Asia II will only permit the use of electronic devices for the purposes of drafting working papers and resolutions. The rules regarding the use of electronic devices may be dynamically adjusted at the chair’s discretion. Specialized and Crisis Committees will be run without the use of electronics, all directives must be written on paper. Delegates are recommended to print out all files or documents that they may use during committee because printing will not be available on site.

PREWRITING

Delegates are not allowed to bring any pre-prepared outlines or drafts of resolutions or working papers. They may not use any pre-drafted speeches, motions, directives, or crisis notes. Delegates are allowed to bring notes to help supplement their speeches, working papers, or resolutions. Additionally delegates are allowed to write their speeches during committee sessions. 

AI POLICY

YMUN South Asia II will be enforcing a strict ban on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in any aspect of the committee. This means that the use of AI is prohibited for position papers, speeches, working papers ,draft resolutions, and anything else related to the conference. It also means that printing outlines or notes that contain AI will not be allowed. Failure to follow the policies will lead to disqualification from awards.

DRESS CODE POLICY

Western Business Attire (WBA) is the mandatory dress code that delegates must adhere to. Any other types of clothing is strictly prohibited throughout the conference. Participants are expected to maintain a professional appearance, with minimal accessories. Delegates will be allowed to wear YMUN South Asia merchandise during the option events such as the community fair or delegate dance during the conference. Failure to comply will result in restricted participation unless prior expectations have been granted for specific needs. Additionally delegates MUST WEAR their conference badge for the entire duration of the conference. For any clarifications please contact delegations@ymunsouthasia.org. 

OBSERVER POLICIES

YMUN South Asia II welcomes interested advisors, parents, or other designated observers to observe the committee at the back of committee rooms. Observers are not allowed to interact with any delegates, assistant directors, or committee directors while the committee is in session. Advisors should contact members of the YMUN South Asia II Senior Secretariat for any assistance. If an observer becomes a distraction within the committee, the Director will kindly remind the observer to remain at the back of the room. Should the distraction persist, the parent will be asked to leave.

DISCRIMINATION AND HARASSMENT POLICY

Delegates should respect the positions and cultural differences of all delegations during the conference. Any form of harassment, discrimination, or discriminatory behavior  including language, actions, or attitudes such as insults, intimidation, demeaning remarks, or discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, age, sexual orientation, or disability is strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification from awards. 

VALUABLES

If a delegate must bring valuables, YMUN South Asia and the Harrow International School Bengaluru are not responsible for any lost or damaged items during the duration of the conference.

ALCOHOL POLICY

Consumption and/or possession of alcohol will not be tolerated under any circumstances. If a delegate is found to possess or consume alcohol, the delegate will be immediately disqualified and expelled from the conference. Additionally criminal complaints may be pursued against the participant in question.

DRUG POLICY

Controlled substances will also not be permitted under any circumstances. If a delegate is found to possess or consume any controlled substance, the delegate will be immediately disqualified and expelled from the conference. Additionally criminal complaints may be pursued against the participant in question.

ADDITIONAL RULES/POLICIES

Conference policies are designed to ensure the most fulfilling, equitable conference experience. All delegates should adhere to the outlined policies for the duration of the program.
